TYPES OF
HAZARD/
EXPOSURE
ACUTE HAZARDS/
SYMPTOMS
PREVENTION FIRST AID/
FIRE FIGHTING
FIRE Gives off irritating or toxic fumes (or gases) in a fire.

In case of fire in the surroundings: all extinguishing agents allowed.
EXPLOSION

EXPOSURE
PREVENT DISPERSION OF DUST! STRICT HYGIENE!

INHALATION
Local exhaust or breathing protection.
Fresh air, rest.
SKIN Redness. Pain.
Protective gloves.
Remove contaminated clothes. Rinse and then wash skin with water and soap. Refer for medical attention.
EYES Redness. Pain.
Safety spectacles.
First rinse with plenty of water for several minutes (remove contact lenses if easily possible), then take to a doctor.
INGESTION Diarrhoea. Unconsciousness. See Notes.
Do not eat, drink, or smoke during work.
Rinse mouth. Induce vomiting (ONLY IN CONSCIOUS PERSONS!). Rest.
SPILLAGE DISPOSAL STORAGE PACKAGING & LABELLING
Evacuate danger area! Consult an expert! Do NOT wash away into sewer. Sweep spilled substance into sealable containers. Carefully collect remainder, then remove to safe place (extra personal protection: P2 filter respirator for harmful particles).
Separated from food and feedstuffs. Well closed. Keep in a well-ventilated room.
Unbreakable packaging; put breakable packaging into closed unbreakable container. Do not transport with food and feedstuffs.
UN Hazard Class: 6.1

PHYSICAL STATE; APPEARANCE:
COLOURLESS CRYSTALS.

PHYSICAL DANGERS:

CHEMICAL DANGERS:
The substance decomposes on heating producing toxic and corrosive fumes, including nitrogen oxides.

OCCUPATIONAL EXPOSURE LIMITS (OELs):
TLV not established.

ROUTES OF EXPOSURE:
The substance can be absorbed into the body by inhalation and by ingestion.

INHALATION RISK:
Evaporation at 20°C is negligible; a harmful concentration of airborne particles can, however, be reached quickly.

EFFECTS OF SHORT-TERM EXPOSURE:
The substance irritates the eyes and the skin. Exposure may result in death. See Notes.

EFFECTS OF LONG-TERM OR REPEATED EXPOSURE:
PHYSICAL
PROPERTIES
Melting point: 119.5-121°C
Solubility in water, g/100 ml at 2°C: 2.1
Octanol/water partition coefficient as log Pow: 0.55
ENVIRONMENTAL
DATA
Avoid release to the environment in circumstances different to normal use.
N O T E S
Depending on the degree of exposure, periodic medical examination is indicated. Insufficient data are available on the effect of this substance on human health, therefore utmost care must be taken. Animal studies have indicated that the substance may be very toxic by ingestion. Hizarocin, Acti-dione, Acti-aid, Naramycin, Naramycin A and Neocycloheximide are trade names.
