TYPES OF
HAZARD/
EXPOSURE
ACUTE HAZARDS/
SYMPTOMS
PREVENTION FIRST AID/
FIRE FIGHTING
FIRE Combustible. Flammable products are formed on contact with water. Liquid formulations containing organic solvents may be flammable. Gives off irritating or toxic fumes (or gases) in a fire.
NO open flames. NO contact with water.
Powder, carbon dioxide. NO hydrous agents. NO water.
EXPLOSION

EXPOSURE
PREVENT DISPERSION OF DUST!

INHALATION Cough. Sore throat.
Local exhaust or breathing protection.
Fresh air, rest.
SKIN Redness.
Protective gloves. Protective clothing.
Remove contaminated clothes. Rinse and then wash skin with water and soap.
EYES Redness. Pain.
Safety goggles or eye protection in combination with breathing protection.
First rinse with plenty of water for several minutes (remove contact lenses if easily possible), then take to a doctor.
INGESTION
Do not eat, drink, or smoke during work.
Rinse mouth. Induce vomiting (ONLY IN CONSCIOUS PERSONS!). Refer for medical attention.
SPILLAGE DISPOSAL STORAGE PACKAGING & LABELLING
Do NOT wash away into sewer. Sweep spilled substance into sealable containers. Carefully collect remainder, then remove to safe place (extra personal protection: complete protective clothing including self-contained breathing apparatus).
Separated from acids. Cool. Dry. Well closed. Keep in a well-ventilated room. Store only if stabilized.

PHYSICAL STATE; APPEARANCE:
YELLOW POWDER OR CRYSTALS.

PHYSICAL DANGERS:

CHEMICAL DANGERS:
The substance decomposes on heating and on contact with acids and moisture producing toxic and flammable products including hydrogen sulfide and carbon disulfide.

OCCUPATIONAL EXPOSURE LIMITS (OELs):
TLV (as Mn): ppm; 5 mg/m3 (as TWA) (ACGIH 1994-1995).
MAK not established.

ROUTES OF EXPOSURE:
The substance can be absorbed into the body by inhalation of its aerosol and by ingestion.

INHALATION RISK:
Evaporation at 20°C is negligible; a harmful concentration of airborne particles can, however, be reached quickly.

EFFECTS OF SHORT-TERM EXPOSURE:
The substance irritates the eyes, the skin and the respiratory tract.

EFFECTS OF LONG-TERM OR REPEATED EXPOSURE:
Repeated or prolonged contact may cause skin sensitization. The substance may have effects on the central nervous system.
PHYSICAL
PROPERTIES
Decomposes below melting point:
Relative density (water = 1): 1.9
Solubility in water: moderate
ENVIRONMENTAL
DATA
This substance may be hazardous to the environment; special attention should be given to water organisms. Avoid release to the environment in circumstances different to normal use.
N O T E S
