1. Nominal wage index is based on currency of country/region concerned.
   
2. Monthly wages are 1995 figures converted to U.S. dollars.
   
3. Figures for Japan cover all industries.
   
4. Figures for Hong Kong and Singapore cover manufacturing industries.
   
5. Indexes for Japan and Singapore were calculated from monthly wages.
   
6. Index for Hong Kong was calculated from monthly wages and nominal wage index in manufacturing industries of 1993.
