Country/Region (Based on Balance of Payments)
- Notes:
- "NAFTA" includes only the U.S. and
Canada.
- "EU" indicates 13 states excluding
Greece and Luxembourg.
- "Germany" indicates former West Germany
up to June 1990.
- "Asia" includes only the Republic of
Korea, Taiwan, Singapore, Thailand, and China.
- "Latin America" includes only Brazil
and Chile.
- "World" totals are JETRO estimates.
- "Reference" table shows figures
announced by UNCTAD. "Industrialized
countries" include Israel, South Africa,
etc. "Developing countries" do not
include former Soviet Union or Eastern Europe.
Further, totals of industrialized countries and
developing countries do not match with figures
for direct investment of the world estimated by
JETRO.
