Safety goggles or face shield.
First rinse with plenty of water for several minutes (remove contact lenses if easily possible), then take to a doctor.
INGESTION Abdominal pain. Diarrhoea. Dizziness. Headache. Vomiting. Weakness. Fatigue. Sweating.
Do not eat, drink, or smoke during work.
Rinse mouth. Induce vomiting (ONLY IN CONSCIOUS PERSONS!). Give plenty of water to drink. Refer for medical attention.
SPILLAGE DISPOSAL STORAGE PACKAGING & LABELLING
Sweep spilled substance into sealable containers. Carefully collect remainder, then remove to safe place. Do NOT let this chemical enter the environment (extra personal protection: complete protective clothing including self-contained breathing apparatus).

COLOURLESS CRYSTALS, GREY FLAKES IN SUBLIMED MASS WITH STRONG PHENOLIC ODOUR.

CHEMICAL DANGERS:
May explode on heating to decomposition. The substance decomposes on heating and on contact with strong oxidants producing toxic and irritating fumes (chlorine, hydrochloric acid). The substance is a weak acid. Reacts with strong oxidants. Reacts in an alkaline medium at high temperatures producing highly toxic chlorinated dioxins.

ROUTES OF EXPOSURE:
The substance can be absorbed into the body by inhalation and through the skin, and by ingestion.

INHALATION RISK:
Evaporation at 20°C is negligible; a harmful concentration of airborne particles can, however, be reached quickly when dispersed.

EFFECTS OF SHORT-TERM EXPOSURE:
The substance irritates the eyes, the skin and the respiratory tract. Exposure by ingestion may result in poisoning.

EFFECTS OF LONG-TERM OR REPEATED EXPOSURE:
Repeated or prolonged contact with skin may cause dermatitis. The substance may have effects on the liver and kidneys (see Notes).

 This substance may be hazardous to the environment; special attention should be given to aquatic organisms and its persistency in sediments and soil. It is strongly advised not to let the chemical enter into the environment.
NOTES
The compound sublimes forming grey flakes. Temperature of decomposition unknown in literature. Technical products may contain highly toxic impurities such as polychlorinated dibenzodioxins and dibenzofurans. Impure substances may cause toxicity in nervous system, liver and skin, and they may be carcinogenic and teratogenic. The substance is combustible but no flash point is available in literature. A related substance, 2,4,6-Trichlorophenol, is possibly carcinogenic. Depending on the degree of exposure, periodic medical examination is indicated. Collunosol, Dowcide 2, Dowicide 2, NCI-C61187, Nurelle, Preventol I are trade names. Also consult ICSC # 0589 - 2,3,5-trichlorophenol and ICSC # 0590 - 2,3,6-trichlorophenol.
