TYPES OF
HAZARD/
EXPOSURE
ACUTE HAZARDS/
SYMPTOMS
PREVENTION FIRST AID/
FIRE FIGHTING
FIRE Gives off irritating or toxic fumes (or gases) in a fire.

In case of fire in the surroundings: all extinguishing agents allowed.
EXPLOSION

EXPOSURE
STRICT HYGIENE! AVOID EXPOSURE OF ADOLESCENTS AND CHILDREN!
IN ALL CASES CONSULT A DOCTOR! (see Notes).
INHALATION (see Ingestion).
Ventilation (not if powder), local exhaust, or breathing protection.
Fresh air, rest. Refer for medical attention.
SKIN MAY BE ABSORBED! See Ingestion.
Protective gloves. Protective clothing.
Remove contaminated clothes. Rinse skin with plenty of water or shower. Refer for medical attention.
EYES
Face shield or eye protection in combination with breathing protection if powder.
First rinse with plenty of water for several minutes (remove contact lenses if easily possible), then take to a doctor.
INGESTION Dizziness. Drowsiness. Nausea. Shock or collapse. Bleeding (see Notes).
Do not eat, drink, or smoke during work. Wash hands before eating.
Rinse mouth. Induce vomiting (ONLY IN CONSCIOUS PERSONS!). Refer for medical attention. See Notes.
SPILLAGE DISPOSAL STORAGE PACKAGING & LABELLING
Do NOT wash away into sewer. Sweep spilled substance into sealable containers; if appropriate, moisten first to prevent dusting. Carefully collect remainder, then remove to safe place (extra personal protection: complete protective clothing including self-contained breathing apparatus).
Provision to contain effluent from fire extinguishing. Separated from food and feedstuffs. Well closed.
Unbreakable packaging; put breakable packaging into closed unbreakable container. Do not transport with food and feedstuffs.
UN Hazard Class: 6.1
UN Packing Group: I

PHYSICAL STATE; APPEARANCE:
WHITE SOLID.

PHYSICAL DANGERS:

CHEMICAL DANGERS:
The substance decomposes on burning producing toxic and corrosive fumes including hydrogen fluoride and carbon monoxide (see ICSC # 0283 and ICSC # 0023).

OCCUPATIONAL EXPOSURE LIMITS (OELs):
TLV not established.

ROUTES OF EXPOSURE:
The substance can be absorbed into the body by inhalation, through the skin and by ingestion.

INHALATION RISK:
Evaporation at 20°C is negligible; a harmful concentration of airborne particles can, however, be reached quickly when dispersed, especially if powdered.

EFFECTS OF SHORT-TERM EXPOSURE:
The substance may cause effects on the blood , resulting in impairment of blood clotting. The effects may be delayed. Medical observation is indicated.

PHYSICAL
PROPERTIES
Melting point: cis-isomer: 181-191°C; trans-isomer: 163-166°C
Relative density (water = 1): 1.2
Solubility in water, g/100 ml: 0.0001 (none)
Vapour pressure, Pa at 25°C: negligible
Octanol/water partition coefficient as log Pow: 4.7 (estimated)
ENVIRONMENTAL
DATA
The substance is very toxic to aquatic organisms. This substance may be hazardous to the environment; special attention should be given to fauna. In the food chain important to humans, bioaccumulation takes place, specifically in aquatic organisms. Avoid release to the environment in circumstances different to normal use.
N O T E S
The symptoms of bleeding do not become manifest until days later. Specific treatment is necessary in case of poisoning with this substance; the appropriate means with instructions must be available. Insufficient data are available on the effect of this substance on human health, therefore utmost care must be taken. Do NOT take working clothes home. Storm and Stratagem are trade names.
