EXPOSURE
STRICT HYGIENE!

INHALATION (see Ingestion).
Local exhaust or breathing protection.
Fresh air, rest. Refer for medical attention.
SKIN MAY BE ABSORBED! Redness. Skin burns. Pain.
Protective gloves. Protective clothing.
Remove contaminated clothes. Rinse and then wash skin with water and soap. Refer for medical attention.
EYES Redness. Pain.
Face shield or eye protection in combination with breathing protection.
First rinse with plenty of water for several minutes (remove contact lenses if easily possible), then take to a doctor.
INGESTION Abdominal pain. Burning sensation. Diarrhoea. Dizziness. Headache. Laboured breathing. Nausea. Vomiting. Weakness. Loss of coordination.
Do not eat, drink, or smoke during work.
Rinse mouth. Refer for medical attention.
SPILLAGE DISPOSAL STORAGE PACKAGING & LABELLING

PHYSICAL STATE; APPEARANCE:
COLOURLESS CRYSTALS , WITH CHARACTERISTIC ODOUR.

PHYSICAL DANGERS:

CHEMICAL DANGERS:
The substance decomposes on burning producing irritating and poisonous gases, acid chlorides, acid anhydrides. Reacts with oxidants.

OCCUPATIONAL EXPOSURE LIMITS (OELs):
TLV not established.

ROUTES OF EXPOSURE:
The substance can be absorbed into the body by inhalation and through the skin.

INHALATION RISK:
A harmful contamination of the air will not or will only very slowly be reached on evaporation of this substance at 20°C, on dispersion (however) much faster.

EFFECTS OF SHORT-TERM EXPOSURE:
The substance irritates the skin and is possibly corrosive to the eyes and the respiratory tract. Exposure may result in chloracne.

EFFECTS OF LONG-TERM OR REPEATED EXPOSURE:
See Notes.
PHYSICAL
PROPERTIES
Boiling point at 100.9 kPa: 233°C
Melting point: 67-69°C
Solubility in water: poor
Vapour pressure, Pa at 25°C: about 1.1

Relative vapour density (air = 1): 5.6
Relative density of the vapour/air-mixture at 20°C (air = 1): 1
Octanol/water partition coefficient as log Pow: 3.62-3.68

ENVIRONMENTAL
DATA
This substance may be hazardous to the environment; special attention should be given to water, soil. In the food chain important to humans, bioaccumulation takes place, specifically in water organisms.
NOTES
Data are insufficiently available on the effect of this substance on human health, therefore utmost care must be taken. Do NOT take working clothes home. Also consult ICSC # 0438: 2,4-dichlorophenol and 0439: 2,5-dichlorophenol.
