HAZARD/
EXPOSURE
ACUTE HAZARDS/
SYMPTOMS
PREVENTION FIRST AID/
FIRE FIGHTING
FIRE Not combustible.
NO contact with oxidizing agents.
In case of fire in the surroundings: all extinguishing agents allowed. Fire fighters should wear complete protective clothing including self-contained breathing apparatus.
EXPLOSION

EXPOSURE
AVOID ALL CONTACT!
IN ALL CASES CONSULT A DOCTOR!
INHALATION (see Ingestion).
Local exhaust or breathing protection.
Fresh air, rest. Artificial respiration if indicated. Refer for medical attention.
SKIN
Protective gloves.
Remove contaminated clothes. Rinse and then wash skin with water and soap. Refer for medical attention.
EYES
Safety goggles.
First rinse with plenty of water for several minutes (remove contact lenses if easily possible), then take to a doctor.
INGESTION Convulsions. Stiffness of the muscles. Respiration paralysis.
Do not eat, drink, or smoke during work.
Rinse mouth. If not breathing, administer artificial respiration. Refer for medical attention. Avoid any unnecessary sensory stimulus.
SPILLAGE DISPOSAL STORAGE PACKAGING & LABELLING
Sweep spilled substance into sealable containers. Carefully collect remainder, then remove to safe place. Do NOT let this chemical enter the environment (extra personal protection: complete protective clothing including self-contained breathing apparatus).
Provision to contain effluent from fire extinguishing. Separated from strong oxidants, food and feedstuffs.
Do not transport with food and feedstuffs.

PHYSICAL STATE; APPEARANCE:
ODOURLESS AND COLOURLESS CRYSTALS, WITH BITTER TASTE.

PHYSICAL DANGERS:

CHEMICAL DANGERS:
The substance decomposes on heating and on burning producing toxic fumes such as nitrogen oxides. Reacts with strong oxidants, causing fire and explosion hazard.

OCCUPATIONAL EXPOSURE LIMITS:
TLV: ppm; 0.15 mg/m3 (as TWA) (ACGIH 1992-1993).

ROUTES OF EXPOSURE:
The substance can be absorbed into the body by inhalation of its aerosol and by ingestion.

INHALATION RISK:
Evaporation at 20°C is negligible; a harmful concentration of airborne particles can, however, be reached quickly when dispersed, especially if powdered.

EFFECTS OF SHORT-TERM EXPOSURE:
The substance may cause effects on the central nervous system , resulting in convulsions, muscle contractions, respiratory failure. Exposure may result in death.

PHYSICAL

Solubility in water, g/100 ml: 0.014
ENVIRONMENTAL
DATA
This substance may be hazardous to the environment; special attention should be given to birds, fish, mammals.
NOTES
Specific treatment is necessary in case of poisoning with this substance; the appropriate means with instructions must be available.
