EXPOSURE

INHALATION Cough. Headache.
Ventilation.
Fresh air, rest. Artificial respiration if indicated. Refer for medical attention.
SKIN Dry skin. Redness.
Protective gloves.
Remove contaminated clothes. Rinse and then wash skin with water and soap.
EYES Redness.
Safety spectacles.
First rinse with plenty of water for several minutes (remove contact lenses if easily possible), then take to a doctor.
INGESTION
Do not eat, drink, or smoke during work.
Rinse mouth. Induce vomiting (ONLY IN CONSCIOUS PERSONS!). Refer for medical attention.
SPILLAGE DISPOSAL STORAGE PACKAGING & LABELLING
Collect leaking and spilled liquid in sealable containers as far as possible. Absorb remaining liquid in sand or inert absorbent and remove to safe place.
Ventilation along the floor.

PHYSICAL STATE; APPEARANCE:
COLOURLESS, SLIGHTLY VISCOUS LIQUID , WITH CHARACTERISTIC ODOUR.

PHYSICAL DANGERS:

CHEMICAL DANGERS:

OCCUPATIONAL EXPOSURE LIMITS (OELs):
TLV: 50 ppm; 234 mg/m3 (as TWA) (ACGIH 1993-1994).
PDK not established.
MAK: 50 ppm; 235 mg/m3; (1991).
MAK: class II,1 (1991).

ROUTES OF EXPOSURE:
The substance can be absorbed into the body by inhalation of its vapour, through the skin and by ingestion.

INHALATION RISK:
A harmful contamination of the air will not or will only very slowly be reached on evaporation of this substance at 20°C.

EFFECTS OF SHORT-TERM EXPOSURE:
The substance irritates the eyes and the skin. Exposure at high levels of the vapour may result in irritation of eyes and upper respiratory tract.

EFFECTS OF LONG-TERM OR REPEATED EXPOSURE:
Repeated or prolonged contact with skin may cause dermatitis.
PHYSICAL
PROPERTIES
Boiling point: (technical grade) 155-180°C
Melting point: <-21°c
Relative density (water = 1): 0.92
Solubility in water, g/100 ml at 20°C: 3-4
Vapour pressure, kPa at 30°C: 0.20
Relative vapour density (air = 1): 3.9
