SYMPTOMS
PREVENTION FIRST AID/
FIRE FIGHTING
FIRE Combustible. Liquid formulations containing organic solvents may be flammable.
NO open flames.
Water spray, foam, powder.
EXPLOSION

EXPOSURE
PREVENT DISPERSION OF DUST!

INHALATION Burning sensation. Cough.
Ventilation (not if powder). Avoid inhalation of fine dust and mist.
Fresh air, rest.
SKIN Redness.
Protective gloves. Protective clothing.
Remove contaminated clothes. Rinse and then wash skin with water and soap.
EYES Redness. Pain.
Safety goggles or eye protection in combination with breathing protection.
First rinse with plenty of water for several minutes (remove contact lenses if easily possible), then take to a doctor.
INGESTION Burning sensation. Cough. Nausea.
Do not eat, drink, or smoke during work. Wash hands before eating.
Refer for medical attention.
SPILLAGE DISPOSAL STORAGE PACKAGING & LABELLING
Do NOT wash away into sewer. Sweep spilled substance into containers; if appropriate, moisten first to prevent dusting. Carefully collect remainder, then remove to safe place (extra personal protection: P2 filter respirator for harmful particles).
Separated from food and feedstuffs.

PHYSICAL STATE; APPEARANCE:
COLOURLESS CRYSTALS OR WHITE POWDER , WITH CHARACTERISTIC ODOUR.

PHYSICAL DANGERS:

CHEMICAL DANGERS:
The substance decomposes on heating producing nitrogen oxides (see ICSC # 0067, ICSC # 0930) and hydrogen chloride (see ICSC #0163). Reacts with strong bases. Attacks mild steel.

OCCUPATIONAL EXPOSURE LIMITS (OELs):
TLV: ppm; 10 mg/m3 (as TWA) (ACGIH 1993-1994).

ROUTES OF EXPOSURE:
The substance can be absorbed into the body by inhalation and by ingestion.

INHALATION RISK:
Evaporation at 20°C is negligible; a nuisance-causing concentration of airborne particles can, however, be reached quickly on spraying or when dispersed, especially if powdered.

EFFECTS OF SHORT-TERM EXPOSURE:
The substance irritates the eyes, the skin and the respiratory tract.

EFFECTS OF LONG-TERM OR REPEATED EXPOSURE:
The substance may have effects on the liver.
PHYSICAL
PROPERTIES
Decomposes below melting point: 218-219 Solubility in water: poor
ENVIRONMENTAL
DATA
The substance is toxic to aquatic organisms. This substance may be hazardous to the environment; special attention should be given to soil, water organisms. Avoid release to the environment in circumstances different to normal use.
N O T E S
Insufficient data are available on the effect of this substance on human health, therefore utmost care must be taken. Carrier solvents used in commercial formulations may change physical and toxicological properties. Do NOT take working clothes home. Tordon, Amdon, ATCLP, Borolin, K-PIN, Chloramp, Grazon are trade names.
